Something Like A Phenomenon: Just how many of you are spelling profile “profil”

“Oh hey! I really liked your profil. Take a look at my profil and maybe we’ll chat!” What?! Where did the E go? Didn’t quite make the cut? Decided to bail ship? Walked the plank? Maybe it was needed to pinch hit on an episode of Sesame Street last minute? I know this simply isn’t a case of the ol’ slip of the typo hand because you’ve typed out the word twice – both times leaving it unfinished and flapping in the proverbial breeze. Just like our estranged friend, the letter E, I’m kind of at a loss here. It’s not like the E is silent. Do you spell file, “fil”? I would hope not. Even more bewildering is just how many times that I’ve seen this happen in the wild. I’ve actually had discussions about this with friends only to find out that they too have noticed the same fuck up time and again. Now, out of all people I should know that we all have our grammatical hang ups, and that if it wasn’t for all those constant red squiggly lines appearing under pretty much every GD word that I write, my spelling skills would more than likely resemble that of 3rd grade student. And not even your average 3rd grade student at that – more like one of those poor saps who got streamed into the “blue book spelling group” rather than their more appealing silver or gold group counterparts and had to probably sit out in the hall with a special teacher because they still couldn’t grasp the concept of spelling complicated words like “music” correctly by the 6th grade…Moving right along! Despite my Z class spelling skills, the word is all over the fucking site! Something must have tipped you off, no? This is kind of driving me bonkers! I’ve had my fill of your profil going ways, guys! Quit being a bully and let the E do it’s job!
